“Pick Your Poison” Powerpoint
Toxicology is the study of poisons, and their chemical and physical effects on the body. As a class, we will design a giant powerpoint of the most important known facts about various types of poisons. Each person in the class will be responsible for designing a powerpoint for at least 2 poisons. You will research one poison for two of these topics: Household/environmental Animal
Plants Food
You will have at least 2 poisons total. You may do a third for extra credit. Your powerpoint must be in font no smaller than 42 on each slide. At least 5 major points about each type of poison must be included in the information.
Points must include: Description of the poison or organism with the poison
Type of poison (include the target organ or location in the body where effects are greatest)
Level of toxicity
Body symptoms.
How to detect the poison “forensically”
The additional points could include: How to detect the poison “forensically”
Brief description of a forensic case in which this poison was involved
Possible cures/treatments
Lasting effects
Include illustrations of the poison or the cause of the poisoning either separately or in power point.
No two people may research the same poison. Once you have your poisons, give your list to the teacher. You will need a minimum of two references. These should be listed at the end of your presentation
